Has there been any progress on the new station at this site, reportedly going in on the old Phoenix Steel site? Will this new station replace both Claymont and Marcus Hook?? Thanks

It will be only a half mile up - with better road access - but still a ways south of Marcus Hook, so I expect no closure would happen there.

From past discussions, I had the impression that the new station would be south of Claymont near Edgemoor.

The below article from 2016 provides some background information on the new station for those who didn't know (like me):

Thanks for the link.

I noted that the author states that Claymont is served by Amtrak and Septa. Would the state of Delaware try to entice Amtrak to stop at Claymont when the new station is completed?

Some further reading/listening from an article/segment from last November 2019...

As far as I can tell, I think there's been some additional planned piggybacking on this proposed development where it was once originally planned to be a simple building of a modern-style office park with the added bonus of rebuilding/moving the station stop. Now they want to make this a full-blown TOD with residences (possibly along with more commercial businesses facing and accessible Philadelphia Pike). Of course, this involves a bit of rezoning and all that. I suspect they do want to woo Amtrak for the possibility of a third station stop (after Wilmington and Newark) in the state of Delaware.

No way that Amtrak will ever stop at Claymont - it's all of six miles from Wilmington.

So? Newark is only 11 miles away from Wilmington. And the distance between Paoli to Exton is only about eight miles. Amtrak doesn't have to stop at Claymont *all* the time...

I could see the State of Delaware/Developers approaching Amtrak at some point in the future. IF the developer's plans come to fruition, I'm sure it would take serious $$$$. I would expect to see at a minimum some impact to the MH/Wil line.
