First time catching the new cars. Granted only been on the Patco twice in the past year. Went last weekend and with a special Flower Show schedule in place they were running at least 3 out of the 5 consists as the new refurb coaches. (6car sets) I have to say it's a shame that the railfan seat is as far back as it is now. Still there but definitely not as good as before. Cars overall smell new and were a nice refresh. You think that the new screens they have at the end of the cars would show more than just an imagine of the PATCO, maybe something similar to PATH (with news and such)

Something similar to SEPTA's SLVs wouldn't be too hard to pull off. I've seen the cars when the system has had some sort of script error and they're not using any technology that is too groundbreaking; the error seemed to be running in Windows XP or even 2000.

A little bump on this thread for some questions.

Were the cars indeed renumbered exactly in consequential order (201-296 now 1001-1096 and 101-125 now 1101-1125; so that say, 254 is 1054 or 113 is now 1113), or are there mismatches here and there? Were there any units retired before being refurbished?

116 was retired.
But that aside, yes, all the married pairs were renumbered in sequence (201-296 now 1001-1096).
The singles were renumbered in sequence as newly-married pairs as well, with 101-114 becoming pairs 1101-1114.
Thanks to 116 being stricken from the roster, 115 and 117 became married pair 1115-1116, and then singles 118-125 became married pairs 1117-1124.

Thanks for the info. Couple of guys over Subchat wanted to know. And I was curious about the oddball car.

I spoke to a Patco employee who told me that most of the original married pairs have the similar numbering scheme (224 is 1024, etc.) but most of the single units do not match their original numbers. Only two or three of the twenty-four have the similar number.

Well, that undoes half my previous reply! lol

Now two conflicting versions of the story. If they are indeed not renumbered in order, possibly renumbered based on when rebuilt (first rebuilt lowest)?
