Anyone have some info on the GG1? (past life), how it got here in the first place, and most of all, that ugly shade of yellow.

If you were paying attention (or read a few threads in this forum), you'd see the unit is actually in the middle of getting body and paint work.

(if you ask me, the yellow seems to follow the pattern of how the PRR painted the GG1's)

Could it be that they are in the middle of repainting the unit back to PRR, and they put down the yellow first because it's the lighter of the two colors?

I already replied to the person individually yesterday saying no in regards to stickies. I get sticky requests quite often....

My policy is this: I don't want too many stickies on the page. Otherwise, we get cluttered real fast. I do my best to keep this forum clean and efficient.

Also, I am not opposed to a photo thread, but can we link the pictures instead please? Otherwise, it is a lot for a browser to load and throws off the website size. I went back to edit the other pictures to links.

I thought about doing links instead of images, but I am sorta getting used to being the only guy on other forums who still uses dial-up and who complains about such things.

I think a pic thread is good because some pics provoke good conversation.

why not just merge this into the existing "old school thread"? have 1 thread for everything.

Part of my point is that there are several sites already dedicated to pictures. Filling forums like this would only slow down and fill up the forum while other topics about railroading and railfanning will be lost or sent elsewhere. Pics and videos are not all there is to the pursuit of railfanning. And too often I find a full frame shot of a locomotive or car over and over and over again just claimed to be in a different location. Not opposed to pics and do encourage them, but since there are other places do to that, then why also here?

Good idea, maybe make an "all time picture thread."- with that said, it probably wouldn't work, since that is dedicated to "older" pictures.

Theres nothing wrong with the occaisional newsworthy pic in a thread, like a new piece of equipment, derailment, oddity, etc etc. But a thread filled with 3/4 wedge shots or otherwise just "scenic" stuff really doesn't need to take up space this site....

This thread is turning into a fiasco in my opinion. I'm gonna lock it before it really gets out of hand. Sorry folks. If you have newsworthy photos, by all means, feel free to post them. Otherwise, I just see chaos occuring.
