Generally, I think tripods are considered "obstructions". You might also have to get a permit. I'm not familiar with NJT's photography policy, but I'm sure there's one out there.

I seem to recall when the whole photo ban thing was repealed the statement was tripods were OK but had to be out of the way of customers.

The railfan photo letter from Warrington in this forum does not mention tripods.

My 2 cents. You should be okay at PJC, just stay at one end of the platform or the other and behind the yellow line and no one should bother you. Most of the railfans that video use the east end of the outbound platform.
