I'm sure most of you buffs have seen this by now.

NJT wins the darwin award again by taking the 5 or so extra trains during the week and having them NOT stop at SEC or Newark Broad. Clap Clap idiots...

A thriving system in 2005 had 230 extra trains for the PGA Championship this year has a whopping 74 and the expresses DONT STOP AT NWK BRD or SEC.

HEADED TO THE 2016 PGA CHAMPIONSHIP AT BALTUSROL?

NJ TRANSIT has been working with the PGA of America to provide a transportation plan that will support the thousands of golf fans attending the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ, from July 25 through July 31.

The Baltusrol Golf Club is located near Summit Train Station, one of the stops along NJ TRANSIT's Morris & Essex Lines. The Morris & Essex Lines provides weekday and weekend rail service from Penn Station New York and Hoboken Terminal, as well as from many communities in between and farther west. Travelers coming from northern or southern points along our rail network can make easy connections with Morris & Essex Lines service at Secaucus Junction.

Rail Schedule
NJ TRANSIT will be running additional rail service to/from Summit Station during PGA Championship Week to accommodate travelers planning to attend the tournament.

Weekend Morris & Essex (M&E) Rail Line schedule - click here
Once visitors reach Summit Station, a PGA-contracted, private bus vendor will take them to the golf club. Customers should make note of the schedule for trains departing Summit at the end of the tournament.

NJ TRANSIT Ticket Purchases & Advance Reservations
You can purchase your tickets from ticket vending machines and ticket windows at train stations, or on your mobile device through NJ TRANSIT's mobile app using the MyTix ticket purchasing feature. Our app also makes it easy to check out travel options and determine departure locations. For more information on MyTix and to set up an account in advance, go to http://www.njtransit.com/mytix" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Tickets purchased onboard trains are subject to a $5 surcharge and must be purchased with cash.

If you plan to attend on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 and will be traveling from Penn Station New York or Hoboken Terminal, you will be able to purchase a reserved round-trip ticket in advance online for a specific train until they are sold out. These special tickets go on sale beginning Saturday, July 23.

If you are traveling with children, you may be able to take advantage of our special Family SuperSaver Fare that allows up to two children (ages 5-11) to ride free with a passenger paying any valid fare. This fare is in effect from 7 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday. In addition, up to three children 4 and under can ride free with each fare-paying adult at all times.

Senior citizens (62 and older), customers with disabilities, and military members and their dependents may purchase tickets at half price with valid ID. Click here for more information on ticket options.

No open containers of alcohol will be permitted on board all Morris and Essex Line trains from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday July 31.

Why are you surprised? The governor obviously does not care about transit and you have a temp bus guy running a railroad. Be glad there is any extra service at all.

Must you always bring the governor into the discussion as if every other governor before him was a patron saint of the railroad? Perhaps the passenger counts from the last open had something to do with this year's schedule? It sounds like they are selling special tickets for certain trains. Are those trains the expresses? Maybe they're anticipating an SRO sell out of those tickets and plan on collecting tickets on the platform. What would be the point of stopping at SEC or Newark Broad if there is no room on the train and no one to collect the fare?

I think the point of stopping at SEC and Newark would be to give people on the other lines a way to transfer to the extra trains. NJT should not be focused on only service customers getting on in NYC.

With a quick glance at the Weekday timetable...
Eastbound
Hoboken bound trains 470, 632, 322, 636, and 328 all stop at Newark Broad. Trains 472, 6670 and 338 all of which replace existing deadhead moves, do not make Newark Broad or Secaucus because those sets must get back to Hoboken and New York to make their turns to everyday revenue trains. Adding stops would delay these trains, causing their turns to be delayed. Also, the 6670 has a slot to hit entering the NEC at Swift ahead of two Amtrak trains.

Westbound
Summit bound train 6309 replaces an existing deadhead move. Adding Secaucus would delay the revenue train 3" behind it. It also has a quick turn in Summit to a well represented revenue train and that turn time must be upheld.
Summit/Dover bound train 8919 replaces an existing deadhead move. Adding Secaucus and Newark Broad street would delay the revenue train 2" behind it.
Summit bound trains 311, 615, 317, 619 and 321 all stop at Newark Broad Street.

Clap Clap for having the facts straight.

Now lets analyze what you've said...

If I am coming from another line which I happen to be I would be transferring at either SEC or BRD for my trip out to Summit...

470 leaves Summit at 10:20AM who is going home then. It's also a local that makes every stop.
632 the same thing goes while it's an express who is leaving at Noon...
322 636 and 328 all are LOCAL making every single stop adding on 20 minutes as to what an express would take.
HMM makes real sense right...

Now to the trains that "HAVE TO MAKE THEIR TURNS" each train only needs to add ONE STOP since the one that goes to HOB and NY run within 10 min of each other. Are you seriously telling me that these trains cannot make ONE STOP at ethier SEC or BRD. The one that has two dodge two amtrak's there is a 80% chance the Amtraks aren't on time and are 5 or so late. I don't buy it and I don't think so. It's pure stupidity...

Run 6309 and 8919 3 minutes earlier.

311 is THE ONLY Train that makes somewhat sense since it stops at BRD and is a SEMI EXPRESS.

615, 317, 619 and 321 are all locals and add 20 min to the commute...

Clap Clap... Didn't see any of this in 05.

I'll be going on Friday and of course taking forever to get there with no express at BRD.

what makes no sense this weekend- no extra trains for the Haskell. Last year, several special trains were added and the crowd of 60,000+ was handled relatively ok. This year, you have Nyquist vs. Exaggerator, and the only modification is adding an extra stop on one train. This will not go well for NJT.
