Hob to 38th street

Why doesn't the ny waterway ferry operate from Hoboken terminal to the midtown ferry terminal at 38th street? The mta schedules state that there is weekend service there.

It once did (I recall somehow), but most HOB passengers that are headed to NY are Lower Manhattan bound. Those headed for Midtown would use Secaucus or Midtown Direct. Even since the opening of SEC, connecting service at HOB has been emphasized in favor of Lower Manhattan over Midtown.

I used to take it a lot on weekends; if I missed the :11 after train from Newark Broad, I'd take the :19 that would take me to Hoboken and catch the ferry.

With the temporary closure of weekend service from HOB to 33rd, it would seem that this service would be well-utilized.
