I continue to be amazed at the longevity of the R-32. Budd must have been some good car builder back in the 1960's. Who would have thought in the mid-1960's that these cars would still be running in the 21st Century? Anyone think the R-160's will last over 45 years?

How well they are running is a relative concept. only about 1/3rd are left in service and that is only due to the emergency retirement of the subway R44s. thier MDBF is in the tank, and thier faulty air conditioners side linded them most of the summer last year.

I very much belaive the R160s will operate for atleast thier designed lifespans.
the simple issue is proper care and maintince. assuming the subway never returns to where it was during the late 70's and early 80's
