Street level subway stations in Brooklyn?

Post by Aa3rt » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:16 am

Are there any street level subway stations still existing in Brooklyn? This question came up in a thread on Brooklyn rail topics in a Brooklyn Dodgers website that I frequent. I haven't been to Brooklyn in over 20 years and my meager collection of books on NYC subways doesn't provide a ready answer.

Here's the thread in the event anyone would like to peruse it:

Thanks for any answer(s) you can provide.

Canarsie's at street level, and I'm sure some of the stations leading to Canarsie on the L must also be at street level.

Well, it's considered ground level to me, as surface, just like the MBTA Red Line south of JFK/UMASS

although you may consider it ground level, the thread's asking about street level. I don't think there are any streets nearby that are level with the station.

How about Metropolitan Ave, the terminal station on the M line? It's been about 35 years, but I believe we used to enter the station directly from the sidewalk.

That's in Middle Village (Queens).
Since my friend continues to chain smoke nonstop, she is probably an Alco.
