Got on an E train yesterday, car 8721 to be specific.

Curious as this car is configured different then the others. "bucket bench" type seat, split hand holds mid isle at the doors(instead of a sinlge pole), and small metal "straps" to hang onto over the seats. (sorry no pictures)

Any other cars configured this way, or was this some sort of test car?

Looks like we've come a full circle on the metal straps. Didn't some cars from about 60 years ago have those same small straps?

yep. cars up to the R40's and R42's had those straps, then they were removed during GOH...

The IRT R26/28/29 and R33/36 (Redbirds) still retained the straphangers, though.
