Can anyone tell me what the tube/canister mounted o n an angle on the side of the TAs work engines is for? The SBK engines have them also..

I never knew that subway cars had poling pockets. :wink: :wink: But really the pole could be used to move work cars on ajacent tracks if they are hard to reach or are fouling a switch.

The tubes on the side of NYCTA Diesels contain yellow pennants used to indicate when flat cars have been fully loaded and inspected.

Once the yellow pennants have been displayed, no one should be adding or removing anything to the flat cars in question.

This is part of the latest security and safety procedures.
