You'd be surprised...I just bought a pair of earbuds on Amazon that have a bunch of horrendous reviews simply because they charge with USB-C and only came with a C to C cable...and all of the horrendous reviews are crying that they don't have any chargers that connect to USB-C :P

I may be retired from NYCT but I can assure you that the R142 fleet will still be here in 2040 or so . The R211 fleet is for the IND-BMT replacements and the SIRT. The car numbers will come from the R32, R46, and the SIRT cars being replaced. I pounded the road in the IRT for 30 years and have been a rider since 1949 so I think I have a good idea of how transit operates. Carry on.

First R211s came by truck yesterday to SBK yard at around 2:30 am. Cars 4064 and 4063. They are staying under tarps due to risks of vandalism and graffiti, security on guard 24 hours. 4060-4061-4062 should arrive either today or tomorrow depending. 4065 through 4069 could follow shortly afterwards. Beginning of an era ! Tests should follow in the coming weeks and months.

The first set of R211As delivered this year were numbered 4060–4064, the next five cars delivered were numbered 4065–4069.
That will probably be correct.

This is pure speculation on my part, on what the other numbers might be based on the options.

R211S: 500-574 (75) (SIR trains are already 3 digits, might make sense these are also 3 digits).
R211T: 3400-3419 (20) Gangway prototypes
R211A or R211T option 1: 3420-4059 (640)
R211A: 4060-4499 (440) The first ones that will be delivered, first 10 already on property.
R211A or R211T option 2: 4500-4936 (437)

I understand that these are the open gangway cars being tested. But in a set of five.
IIRC the TTC trains are open through all ten cars.
Will MTA run two open five car sets? As separate halves or also connected?
Or will they add mor trailers between the two cab cars to make a ten.car open train?

Conductors need a full width cab at the center of the train. That won't have a pass-through. Given that, there is not much reason to give up the operational/maintenance flexibility of five car sets.
