It was announced to day (5/16) that full service will resume on the A and S in the Rockaways.

Quick quote from the above link:
"Governor Cuomo announces May 30 Restoration of A S icon Service

On May 16, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced service on the storm-damaged Rockaway line of the A line icon train will resume May 30 after an all-out, six-month MTA effort to rebuild the 3.5 mile-long stretch of the Rockaway flats including 1,500 feet of washed out tracks, replace miles of signal, power and communications wires, and rehabilitate two stations that were completely flooded. The new work included installing two miles of corrugated marine steel sheet wall 30 feet into the soft soil of the right-of-way along Jamaica Bay to protect the track against future washouts and ensure the line is ready to handle future coastal storms."

Today the "A" has returned to the Rockaways,it's been reported to have used a "Museum Train" on the 1st run from
Beach 116th street to the "mainland"(per the WCBS stream reports)
The consist was a mix of R1's thru R9's car types
The Land of Enchantment is not Flyover country!
