It's a known issue on the version of phpBB this site currently uses. (The site has some other issues too - it only loads in insecure http which means everyone's passwords are sent in plaintext over the internet. Don't use the same password for rr.net and anywhere else.)

Google is very unhappy with sites that are "http","Not secure" is posted in the header,turns red in posting mode
Wonder if the current "site template" is at the end of run? :(

while they add that, maybe they could up size of pictures , these days a smartphone picture is twice as much as current settings.

And given the up-to-date nature of the homepage, you can see that keeping settings up to date around here is a priority of the site ownership /sarcasm.

I'm sure donations to purchase the site from the person who owns it now would be greatly appreciated.

On Friday, May 10 2019, the last M-2 train set consisting of cars 8522-8523, 8738-8739 and 8736-8737 left MNRR property and embarked on their final journey of 575 miles to Frontier Industrial Corp in Ohio. Crews from New Haven MOE began prepping and sending cars out on November 20,2011. The salvage program lasted 7 years.

The last of the 342 cars built by GE between May 1973 and July 1976, and have served the New Haven Line for 45 years of M-2,M-4, and M-6 vintage were replaced with M-8 cars.

M-2 car fans can still visit pair 8607-8707 at the Danbury Rail Museum, and some M-6 cars have been repurposed as training cars for the MTAPD in Stormville, N.Y.

Mod Note: The above was found on the Metro-North internal MTA Today home page, accessible to employees of the MTA. It doesn't get more from the horse's mouth than that.

The first M-2s actually rolled off the line in 1972 (delivered August 1972), but not accepted for service until April 1973.

What are the correct numbers for the Danbury pair? Those listed can't be both right as both odd numbers.

I can find no reference anywhere else on the internet about Danbury getting these cars and that includes the museum's website.

Good that one pair was saved, at least. Would have been a shame if they were all cut up.

Are those in operating condition? Obviously not with no overhead wires in Danbury, but if they were towed down to Norwalk, could this pair run from there?

I suppose you could, but why though? I'm not sure of the asbestos remediation status in the cars. There's really no point in maintaining them for that purpose.

Maybe the Danbury mayor can get CtDOT to string some catenary on the Maybrook to run his shuttle over to Brewster lol.

answer is no, as non of M2/4/6 got PTC and minimum train length is 4 cars
