Those front doors don't look like they open far enough to interfere with the drawbars.

Still not sure how they figure a 10% capacity increase. The only difference I see is that a few seats on the lower level flip up allowing more people to stand. No way that will add say 30 passengers?

Don't like the position of the "Mushroom" (emergency brake). It looks like it's too far away and not ergonomically efficient as it is now placed on existing cars. It is much easier to pound down with your fist on a button to your right vs. having to punch forward with your palm.

Hooray - LED destination signs instead of those horrendous LCDs. The front signs set way back inside that curved enclosure are kind of annoying though.

Do these have both electric and air horns?

I see that the truck fairings have already disappeared, although that could just be for testing. The propulsion noise reminds me of the DC Metro. Much more pleasant than a Type 8.

I hope the marker lights don't always flash like that.

I really appreciate how much quieter they are than the Type 8's. You can hear the 8's from blocks away, it is egregious!

You can hear those air horns from quite a distance, but you aren't supposed to use them except in an emergency. I always wished there was another warning device between the bell and the air horn especially when street running on Huntington Ave.

I was actually referring to the propulsion but see where you are coming from in regards to the horn.

MassLive posted a video of the politician special.

Things that I can tell/have learned from the video:

1. Controller (throttle) is of a similar style to the Type 8s
2. The four screens near the center section can be used to show ads.
3. The grab poles near the doors have mounting points for the tap targets for Charlie 2.0 when that gets rolled out.
4. The ASA uses a ding-dong prior to automated announcements like the blue line. The voice appears to be the Text-To-Speech Crystal voice (although this may change, as the blue line didn't use its original ASA voice)

Jordan King posted a video of a Type 9 testing at Elliot.

Now we know that it has a real gong bell, although I'm not sure if it still has the standard CAF sound package (the previous video from Twitter showing the beep-beep noise is part of the sound system)

It’s actually too quiet, it sneaks up on you as you don’t hear it coming like the 7/8’s.

Any news of when the first pair of pilot cars will enter revenue service? NETransit shows that the goal is to get them into service by the end of this month. This month ends in two days!
