On page 98-99 of Stephen Puleo's excellent book https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Tide-Great-Boston-Molasses/dp/0807050210/ he describes how an Elevated train passed over that section of track literally seconds before it collapsed, and how a brakeman ran back down the track and flagged down the next northbound train and prevented it from crashing down in the wrecked area.
The Blue Line is good for Lynn, and Lynn is good for the Blue Line.
