Evidently the locomotive involved was a GP18, #904. But what was it doing on the Needham Line on a Sunday, when that line is normally devoid of trains?
Non-revenue operations on Sunday are pretty common on the Needham Line. Most likely they’re swapping a train set in or out for maintenance.

The "Roots" blower might have had a bearing fail,allowing engine oil to pond up in the exhaust, poof,instant fire.
Now 1 of the "Rent a wrecks"" had to play go fetch,then drag the whole mess to BET. :(
