Blue Line 4367

Recently looking through NETransit's website I noticed that the blue line has a wire car numbered 4367. All I can fin on this is that it was built in house at Watertown in '92. Does anyone have pictures of this car and/or know the history of it?

4367 is a twin to 4366, the Green Line Wire Car. It only comes out at night, so it is rarely photogaphed. When the revere extension was opened in 1952, the connecting tracks between East Boston and Everett were abandoned, and Wire Car 3279 was trapped at Orient Heights, 3283 was built new to replace it. Both were in turn replaced by 4366 and 4367 in 1992. Some years ago, I was asked to look at a problem in 4367s MG set, which wouldn't run fast enough to charge the batteries, which I wasn't able to resolve. 4366 later developed the same problem, and AFAIK, both remain dead tows, needing a car or train to haul them to a worksite.

The best time to catch 4367 is in the wee hours of the AM, between Wood Island and Wonderland where the tracks are accessible.

Are the tracks you are referring to the Grand Junction that branches off of the Eastern Route? I vaguely remember the old line still being connected between 1994 and 1998.

No, we are talking about the Blue Line Rapid Transit; it only approaches the Grand Junction between Wood Island and the tunnel portal, where access is blocked by Highways and the airport.

Last time I personally laid eyes on 4367, it was not much more than a frame under construction inside Watertown Carhouse. This would have been 1989 or so. Neat to see pictures of the finished product.
