I am wondering if anyone knows where any of the ex-MBTA FP10s are currently located or there ultimate fate.
I have found one confirmed at Gold Coast RR museum (1101). I am not sure about any others. Here is some information on some of them I found online.

(Source:http://membrane.com/~elmer/rail/units/f_units.html)
6 of the FP10s are said to be scrapped, and 4 of them went to Metro North where they are said to have operated until 2009.
I am wondering if anyone has info on any of the units from recently? Most of the information I find is outdated, and I would like to gather some information to create a database with newer, updated information.

1108 - Idaho, Northern and Pacific Railroad (parts?)
1109 - became MNCR 410, retired, current status unknown
1110, 1111 - unknown
1112 - Idaho, Northern and Pacific Railroad (active as of 2011)
1113 - became MNCR 411, retired, current status unknown

JM and JW: Tom Nelligan - a member of Railroad.net - wrote a very informative article about the MBTA F10s
that was published in the July 1983 edition of Railfan and Railroad Magazine on pages 28 to 33 that was
titled "Boston's Reincarnated F Units".

All 19 of the units were rebuilt at the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Paducah, Kentucky shops between July 1978
and October 1979. Eighteen of the units were former GM&O F3s with just one - the 1104 (formerly GM&O 812)
was a F7. Four of these units - 1150-51-52-53 were rebuilt with steam generators that were replaced with HEP
capability later on during the decade of the 1980s...

Since Mr. Nelligan is a fellow member of these forums I will defer any further information about this writing
to him since he may be able to scan and/or post a link to his article which I have no capability to...

Thanks for the help so far. I've been researching more and I have found out that 1105 was scrapped in 2010. There is a video of the scrapping on YouTube
https://youtu.be/YawPo3i8yac" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

#1110 has no records of moving to a new railroad or being sold that I can find. I know a few units were leased to Cape Cod Central during the early 90s and one was locomotive was used for parts due to something going bad in the lubrication system. I wonder if that unit was 1110. It seems like it did not have any problems when it was close to retirement considering it was being used on 5/29/91, but who knows. Stuff can go wrong in an instant.

Does anyone know if any units have not been painted over or still remain in MBTA or Metro-North livery?

Somewhere in this MBTA Forum I listed all the dispositions of the FP10's. Have extensive
notes on all of them, but thanks for the INPR scrap links...Which I didn't know about.

The 1110 was sold to Naparano July 1993 along with the 1102,1103,1104 & 1107. All
were shipped off the property 8 & 9/83 via Conrail/Beacon Park.

1153 Same as the 1100. However, it was quickly sold 8/99 to the Cape Cod Central. Was to be converted to
a control car at the then sister-operation Quincy Bay Terminal in Quincy, Ma. for the CCC's scenic train
operation. Project died when their was an ownership change. Retained by QBT interests and sent 1/8/00
to Edaville RR for display. Prime mover and traction motors were removed. At one point it was painted
into ATSF colors. Still there, but now may be solid red.

It should be noted that all the Rio Grande Pacific units were repainted into the red/gray scheme in Thunderport,
NY (Ebenezer Car?)

Other miscellaneous fun facts:
-All units were out of service by November 1991. A few of the last runs were paired units back to back. The
last one I can remember for sure went to Ipswich. One unit had a failure. Back in the next day and the pair were
broken up.
-1109,1113,1151 & 1152 were the last units in service on the MBTA. The last run was likely the 1151 on 1/13/92
on a BET Switcher move.
-Rumor: All units except the MNCR & Cape Cod units were reported sold in 1993 to Maine DOT which proved false.
This purported sale continues to resurface from time to time.

BC and Everyone: Boston and Maine "Minuteman" colors - or New Haven McGuiness - would have been a better
choice for this "stuffed and mounted" FP10 in New England - and I agree with Tadman in that this unit reminds
me of Canada Post "mailbox" colors...

Everyone:

I will post some more fun facts about the FP10 units along the lines of those posted by Dave S that were
mentioned by Tom Nelligan in his July 1983 R&R article:

The MBTA originally was seeking to have 17 former New Haven passenger GP9s dating from 1956 rebuilt
and the 19 FP10 units were acquired in a sort of "trade" with the ICG that sent that group of GP9s to the
ICG and in return the MBTA got the group of 19 rebuilt former GM&O FP10 units along with cash savings.

The original HEP generators had both 480 and 575 volt capability - and because of this overly complicated
design HEP failures were becoming a problem. Back in 1979 to 1981 the MBTA was leasing a group of
GO Transit single level cars which used 575 volts. It was decided to return these cars back to Toronto
and further modify the HEP units to provide only 480 volt HEP which in essence solved this problem.

The four FP10s with steam generators: 1150-51-52-53 would be sent during 1983 to the C&NW Oelwein (Iowa)
Shops under a contract to replace the steam generators with HEP units after the last MBTA steam heated
cars were retired.

On January 11, 1979 FP10 1100 was delivered to the B&M Boston Engine Terminal and made its first revenue
run on January 25, 1979 on train number 442 running from Framingham to Boston.

The first nickname for the FP10 units was "Easter Eggs" because of their original purple and yellow color scheme
and later during the 1980s they would be repainted into a much more attractive burgundy based color scheme.
