506 had an HEP failure at Auburndale this morning and was operated as a shove move (engineer in locomotive, conductor in cab car) the rest of the trip, arriving about half an hour late into South Station.

Bad morning North. 406 and 154 both cancelled. 351/352 & 355/356 cancelled as collateral damage. From the T'alerts it sounds like there was an extra sent to South Acton to help cover for 406 - so likely that's where the set for 351/2 went.

And to top it off there was seemingly one conductor on the replacement for 406, so it took 10 minutes to board at Waltham.

The replacement set for 406 was a protect crew, it's just an engineer and a conductor. They do not have a trainman. It's better to run a protect train with one conductor than not run a protect train at all.

A T-Alert this morning predicting there will be no delays.
Last train times from North Sta on Fri, Jan 23, & Sat, Jan 24, WILL NOT BE ADJUSTED for the second TD Garden Garth Brooks concert, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 pm.

Last trains will depart at their regularly scheduled times on Friday and Saturday.

Too many T-Alerts to count this morning. On the NH route, 302, 351/352, 308, 355/356 among the casualties. All lines have delays and cancellations. Not unexpected, and certainly understood. At least with T-alerts and real-time feeds, passengers can plan better than before these on-line services, where we used to just show up at stations and wait. And wait. And wait.

It's been so many years since I've been in MA that I don't know what a retractable platform edge is. When I used to board the train at Billerica it had low-level platforms for each of the two tracks that accommodated about 4-5 cars.
Can someone update me?
Thanks!

502 is disabled at Wellesley this morning and is being rescued by 504. 505 and 507 are listed as being delayed due to weatherconditions. Also seeing a lot of frozen doors and traps this morning.

Have to say that despite the delays the Worcester line is about as reliable in the winter under Keolis as it was with MBCR.

Mechanical issues all over the Northside, but the winner was the Fitchburg line. This afternoons schedule went out the window due to mechanical failures.
