Metro suspends Automatic Door operations after doors close unexpectedly

Metro has suspended automatic door operations on the Red Line, just days after touting its return.

While doors were opening properly at most stations, General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said Thursday that the doors were unexpectedly closing automatically.

This one has me scratching my head.

WMATA has never operated using automatic door closing, even though that functionality exists. All of the aluminum rolling stock enabled or disabled automatic doors with two switches, one for automatic opening and the other automatic closing.

Oh well guess we can delay the return of full ATO for another 10 years.
