FTA threat if Metro re-extends late night weekend service

This seems crazy to me. If Metro extends weekend hours back to the 3pm closing we used to have, FTA will pull a bunch of funding from the area.
Seems like somebody is really cranky about this.

They are cranky because they believe WMATA will not be able to stay ahead of the routine maintenance needed to maintain safe operations.

Now if WMATA were to implement a maintenance program that better exploited the window of out of service trackage availability the FTA might cut them some slack.

FTA thinks the board will revert to being the politicians they are by nature.
So they are giving the GM some blocking tackles on the scrimmage line.
