The D.C. Council voted 11 to 2 on Tuesday to decriminalize fare evasion on Metro, officially eliminating the possibility of arrest or jail time and instituting a maximum fine of $50 for jumping the turnstiles.

What do they enforce these days? People eat on metro now and leave litter on the trains - years ago that just never happened. Kids now discharge fire extinguishers on a seemingly regular basis - I don't remember reading about that in the past. Now they want to decriminalize turnstile jumping.
