REMINDER-Camden Line: Delays and train cancellations FRIDAY morning due to Amtrak emergency trackwork:

Amtrak has notified MARC Train that emergency track maintenance is necessary on a switch located near New York Avenue where the Camden Line tracks enter Union Station. Temporary repairs was made yesterday however, major work was required overnight. This will necessitate the following service modifications for this Friday morning on the Camden Line.

--Train 841 (5:00am departure from Camden Yards) is cancelled. Train 843 (5:30am departure from Camden Yards) will add stops at St. Denis, Greenbelt, College Park, and Riverdale.

--Train 840 (6:32am departure from Union Station) is cancelled. Train 842 (7:00am departure from Union Station) will be the first Northbound train.

--All trains will likely experience 15-20 minute delays as Camden Line trains will be required to arrive and depart Union Station using the track connection to the Brunswick Line.

Camden Line passengers may wish to consider the following alternatives:

--Using the Penn Line. Camden Line tickets are always honored at comparable stations on the Penn Line.

--Transferring to the Green Line at Greenbelt or College Park to reach downtown Washington. Please note that the Metro Option is no longer provided and all Metrorail customers must have a SmartTrip card loaded with enough value for your trip. Reimbursement is not provided.

We regret any inconvenience and thank you for riding MARC Train.
So they're taking F tower to QN and then reversing into WAS?

Well that certainly is rare mileage if you're a mileage fan. I got that leg of the wye in the late 70's on a Chessie Steam Special.

Yeah... they got it fixed by the time rush came in, so no rare milage. Would be fun, though, for only a few people. Most of 'em are commuters to DC.

That was standard mileage in the days of B&O passenger operations. All trains backed into WUS, except commuter trains.
