Third rail was live when passengers evacuated July 5

After running a red signal, 3 passengers were evacuated from a train and the third rail was still live at that time.
Those passengers could have electrocuted!

While it's true that it should have been off, I think the risk is pretty minimal. Unless someone throws themselves on the rail under the cover board... three people being escorted by metro staff a short distance to the steps is really innocuous.

It doesn't make it any less dangerous though ... and doing so was a violation of safety rules.

I completely agree it shouldn't have happened and was dangerous. What I don't agree with, is that it's headlining news or some huge problem leaving people's lives hanging by a string. Honestly, walking my dog in the morning is probably more dangerous.
