Sorry if this comes in twice, there was a glitch....

Sarles' concluding remarks on his tenure as GM/CEO at today's Board hearing: http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/news/P ... aseID=5845

And remarks from interim CEO/GM Requa http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/news/P ... aseID=5844as well as remarks from Board chairman Downs http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/news/P ... aseID=5847.

I bet after today's numerous cracked rails and train malfunctions that Sarles is saying 'see ya' and heading somewhere warm. Happy trails to him.

WMATA procured a fancy new track geometry vehicle 2 1/2 years ago. My question is why were these cracked rails not detected during routine inspections? My understanding is the track geometry vehicle can detect such defects before they become problematic.

Speak of the devil:

Dan Tangherlini, whom President Obama tasked with restoring credibility to the General Services Administration after its conference spending scandal, will announce Thursday that he’s leaving the agency after three years in the top job.
.....
Tangherlini plans to leave GSA on Feb. 13. No word yet on his next professional move or whether he’ll continue a government career that started in the 1990s at the Office of Management and Budget and included top posts at the Metropolitan Police Department, WMATA, the administration of former Mayor Adrian Fenty, and the Department of Treasury.

I really hope that they don't promote from within, they're all bunch of idiots

I'm not keen on either of those choices..

I wouldn't have mind offering it to Caroyln Flowers from CATS but FTA snatched her up first ( probably due to DOT Secretary Fox)

Next on my short list would be:

Jack Requa - Current Interim GM, he's served as Interim before and as AGM, Bus Services and has done a decent job with that

Richard White - Yes, the GM from the 90s, he's the one to predict everything that's been happening and for warning the board in public he was sent packing. If we could get him back and let him run the authority we might actually come out of the nose dive if only to maintain level flight.

WaPo and WMATA trying to throw Tuss under the bus for WMATA's incompetence. If that isn't further proof that WaPo is the WMATA hype blabber mouth I don't know what is.

I like how they conveniently left out the fact that Bowser wasn't happy with any of the picks and wanted to keep searching. DC representatives are looking for someone that can clean up Metro's finances especially since all that money isn't showing any results.

But no, it's the reporter's fault. F*cking idiots...
