Remember seeing one, sometimes two, but mostly one, covered hopper spotted at Inland Plastics in Hicksville, just west of the New South Rd. crossing, back in the '80s & early '90s. How often was Inland Plastics served by the LIRR, and was their spur like their neighboring customer Ruco Polymer's, a trailing-point off the westbound Main Line track, or the very, very end of the spur that parallels the Main Line from the LIPA facility at Old Country Rd.??? Thanks, lads.

Inland was located off of the same trailing switch on Mainline 1 as Wasserman Bag and was served sporadically, similar to Ruco Polymer in that it was trailing when heading west.
It was also included as an inactive but intact freight switch on the NYAR Lease Agreement in 1997.

Annual carloads:
1982 - 4
1983 - 5
1984 - 3
1985 - 3
1986 - 2
1987 - 5
1988 - 8
1989 - 14
1990 - 10
1991 - 3
1992 - 3

Thanks to Steve Lynch for the carload reports to fill in gaps where the memory has long since forgotten.

NYA was last to use the switch for Mid-Island Produce that received a handful of cars maybe until like 2002/03. They took the occasional reefer.

Were these plastic pellet loads in the covered hoppers? This photo of Midland Plastic is Emery spot #29, just west of New South Rd. Same as Inland Plastic??
