412 did not come to RI until 409 & 411 derailed last October. As far as I know, that is the only reason why it was on RI. The last time I saw 412 was on October 15th. I don't know if RI will keep 412, or if RI will get 407 from BNSF.

412 went to the ROCK about the time it was supposed to, which was the same time od the 47th St. pile-up. Remember Metra has no grand plan. They do things at the spur of the moment.

So MP36's should be assigned something like this(?):
401-407: BNSF
408-412: RI
413-427: MILW

If RI gets either 407 or 412 I'm happy. I'm sick of seeing winnebago after winnebago on RI, an MP36 is a nice to see. :-D

MP36 416 wrote:The worst horn is on 196, 200 and 201 aren't following that far behind, 198 is next along with 197, followed by 191, 187 and 193, 185 is all rite along with 194, 192, and 186. 199's is downrite loud along with 190, 195 has a bit of a squeal to it but 188 is another picture-perfect screamer horn. Look out when 188's comin...She's got a high RPM, fast, and a screaming 5-chime horn!
You can put 189 up there with 196 when it comes to bad horns. 201 isn't really all that bad, in fact its pitch is pretty high. I heard 185's yesterday and that one is pretty good too.

As far as I'm concerned, RI can have all of the 400s. Now that the F40Cs are gone, nothing would make me happier than to see only F40PH and F40PH-2s on the MILW-West.

I feel the absolute same way. Just let us have our F40PHs and 211 and i'll be happy.

401 has been accounted for. It was back in service today.

412 finally made a run on RI yesterday after not being seen for weeks. It led 148 on a branch line train.

The 400's will never leave the MILW due to fuel tank size.

Its only wishful thinking, but Metra needs larger fuel tanks on the F40s.

Bad horns? The MP36s have bad horns. They are muted way to much not providing the treble sound I am used to hearing in the F40s. Besides, them MP36 horns can sound pretty funny if they have snow in them. I was in a shop getting my snow blower fixed in Itasca just next to Rhowling Rd. It was November 25th. An evening westbound went by with an MP36. That was the first time I had ever heard an MP36 with two bells clogged and one partially clogged.
