Alright boys and girls, here we go. Metrolink operating (train crew) contract is up for bid, with a closing date of April 11, 2016. Any opinions on whether they will once again select an operator other than Amtrak?

Keolis was the operator of record when Chatsworth wreck happened,Amtrak replaced them as operator on the last bid.......
UP would be unhappy if Keolis attempted a bid.

Indeed it was Veolia.

Both are European based companies,Keolis has done ok with VRE,but the MBTA's winter meltdown last year didn't
help their cause.
Herzog has a few smaller operations that have done well(NMRX,TRE for example)but this might be too large to bid on.
BBD's operation of MARC has been ok(at the least CSX is not mad at them)
BNSF is running MNDOT's Northstar service.

Believe the Coaster(SDNX) might be part of the package,to bid on.

Coaster was awarded to Bombardier, Herzog (TASI) operates Caltrain in the Bay Area. Mixed bag from what I've heard. The real question is... Is SCRRA forgetful of the consequences of going to a cheaper bidder?

It might come down to how well each bidder handles "service foul ups" along the lines of Chatsworth and Oxnard
And how they recover back to normal service in a timely manner.
