Out of the 3 (567, 645, 710), mine would have to be the 645E3. What's your favorite?

If you are talking about maintaining and operating them, all three are.

But I think the most interesting engines EMD built were the 184A multi bank radial pancake diesel and the stainless steel 278A non-magnetic engines they constructed for the Navy, both of which were built at the La Grange plant.

455 Pontiac

Awesome low end torque with its 4.21" stroke and 6.625" rods.

I like the Ford "FE" Y block. Bullet-proof!

I like the sound of the EMD 567's in the GP7's, GP9's and F's. Not a railroader so I never had to service them or run them bukt they have an interesting drone as they develop power. The naturally aspirated 645 in the GP- 38 doesen't quite bark the same.

Back to the topic...
I also like the deep, throaty hum of a 710G in a Illinois Central SD70.

I like them all, and when I hear a lot of one I want to hear another. But my 2 favourites are the 16-567 (especially in a 4-stack unit, where the chugging sound is amplified) and 16-645E3.

I love the sound of the turbocharged 16-567 in the GP35s. But my favorite would have to be the turbocharged 16-645, 'cause it's what I grew up with in my back yard. When you've got a few of those in 8th notch, it can make the windows rattle and the pictures hanging on the wall start to shake.

I really don't care what kind of engine is inside the stupid locomotive, so long as it works. :(
