The new HTCR-6 bogie under the EMD Tier 4 locomotives is not related to the Henschel FlexiFloat bogie other than using a fabricated frame. It is simply a new fabricated frame radial steering bogie similar to the HTCR-4 bogie used on the SD70ACe's since 2005. The HTCR-6 uses the same axle bearing housings, primary coil and secondary rubber springs and dampers, and the same traction connection from bogie to underframe as the HTCR-4. Note the primary coil springs are pocketed into the frame, not bearing on the bottom plate of frame as the Henschel bogies. The axle steering feature is retained but with new design steering beams that have a simpler attachment to the fabricated frame.
