Back in the early 1950s EMD had a specialty vehicle built to carry displays around to trade shows and civic events. It was about the size of a bus and had stainless steel side panels with large doors that opened to allow viewing the interior exhibits. Have any of the contributors to this forum seen any references to public display appearances involving this vehicle, and does anyone know of its final disposition?

there was a GM version of this at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and it may still be there.

Great answers Guys! Ol' Loco Guy that is a really neat website. The "Futurliner" name escaped me completely, I heard it many years ago but could not recall it. That is definitely the type of vehicle which carried the EMD exhibit. In fact the Futurliner with the EMD exhibit on board is shown here:

Here is some additional information on the EMD Futurliner, which was provided by a retired EMD employee: The EMD Futurliner was GM-4, and it was equipped with a locomotive display on the right hand (curb) side with three "slightly" 3-dimensional (flattened) partial models of an F-unit, a GP, and a switcher. The "show" began with all three models staggered and taking up all the width of the display bay, the GP model was then moved to the right to reveal a flat display screen with some of the history of EMD. The screen was apparently supported between two rollers, allowing the scenes to appear. The left side of the vehicle opened to show a display of the uses of diesel power in various commercial and government applications.
