I guess one historical fact was missed on August 20th, 2009. Union Pacific opened the new double tracked High Bridge in Boone, Iowa after 3 years of construction. It replaces the Kate Shelly bridge which will remain next to it. The bridge is 2,800 feet long, and 195 feet high, second only to a span in Arkansas over the Mississippi.
