Leased Metra Units

I was looking through the UP roster http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/attachments/locorost.pdf and I saw this entry
METX 124-179 METX 180 Why would these F40s be on the UP official roster?

Because those are the Metra units assign to UP for all three commuter lines. Most Matinence and inspections are done but UP. They also have working cab signaling and other safety devices need to run on the UP.
