I am new to this forum, so if this question has already been addressed, my apologies....

I noted this morning while watching the Coast Starlight on the north side of Fresno on the UPRR that a local was heading northbound and the caboose said "Madera Flyer"... I'd noted that same caboose last week on a local north of Merced. Since when has UPRR started running a caboose on locals in California? And, are they actually named for the routes they normally run? Is this a "theme" caboose of some sort?

Old cabooses are used as shoving platforms for jobs who need to make a long shove over multiple road crossings. It is safer.

Did anyone notice the taggers already put grafitti on that caboose. Nice to see the caboose back. I see it being used all the time here in Fresno.
