I got back from a vacation and when I was in Grand Junction (by the Amtrak station) there were likely over 50 UP locos in the yard all coupled together. A bunch were old switchers and geeps, and a few gray u-boats (I'm guessing). Does anyone have any idea what the fate of these are?
by MUing to it. Used in yards and on local switching runs with ONE man crews using a"backpack" type remote controler.
Grey units were stripped of everything,except for the cab and the remote gear installed in the long hood.("zombie unit"
