4014 Reconstruction

Post by John_Perkowski » Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:19 pm

If anyone is interested, 4-8-8-4 Big Boy 4014 passed its hydrostatic test. It may be in steam in time for the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike!

Yesterday, the Steam Shop in Cheyenne lit off 4014s oil burners.

A Big Boy is under steam again.

Check out Page 2 of Today's Journal, which has a photo of 4014 in Ogden.

Regarding the video linked immediately by Mr. McGrath, I wonder how many of the drivers or passengers of the vehicles passing by on US30 noted the event?

You would not believe the number of foamers on I-80, I-84, and US-30.

Colonel, Peterson, UT @ MP972, was always my favorite spot to view UP "action" when I was at Hill AFB; 68-69.

OK, maybe UP is "indifferent" about handling Amtrak trains, and what someone "pulled" enabling ARRA09 funds allocated for the (?) HSR Chicago-St Louis project to be used to rebuild the G,M&O to access their Elwood IL Global Intermodal facility bordered on fraud, no one can argue against how the UP preserves and protects their heritage.

Something tells me that content from this book,Ghosts of Gold Mountain, is not part of the docent's script at the California Railroad Museum.

I'm going to have to head over to the hospital to get my jaw pieced back together after having it drop to the floor one too many times. :-D

Incredible footage (and nice bokeh on whatever lens you're using as well)!
When it's a tie at the railroad crossing, you lose.

Thank you. The lens I used for the night shots is a Voightlander Nokton 17.5mm f0.95. One of the best low light lenses for micro 4/3.
