I haven't updated the page yet: http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/Scotty ... squehanna/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I recently read the 3012 and 3014 are getting sent out to Progress to be rebuilt into "Eco" units (I assume similar to the CP SD30eco's). Any truth??

Its 3012 and 3016, 3014 is not involved at this time.
The two units left Binghamton last week, headed out toward Buffalo on NS, the 3016 was set out on a siding in
Canasaraga NY, for unknown mechanical issues, where I caught her yesterday:

The 3012 has continued west, and was spotted going through Illinois a few days ago.
It is believed they are destined for Progress Rail's Mayfield Kentucky facility, to be converted to ECO units.
This is where CP's 6-axle ECO's are being built.
although the railfan community doesnt seem to be completely certain..
that is *probably* correct at this point, but I wouldnt call it 100% confirmed yet.

Very interesting. I'm a bit surprised they didn't include the 3010 as its reportedly sat for a few years now with a blown prime mover, but I'm sure they have their reasons for sending those other two. Regardless, it is cool to see they're investing in upgrading their own motive power. Thanks for the update!

Saw this email on the Yahoo NYSW group this morning - 2 of the SD70s have been released for active duty, 3rd on its way:
NS SD70M's 2798 (former NYSW 4052) and 2799 (former NYSW 4054) have been released to active service. The third unit, NS 2797 (former NYSW 4050), has been repainted but has not yet been released. Thanks to Kyle McKerrow for sharing his photos of NS 2798 and 2799 from today: http://www.nsdash9.com/rosters/2797.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

^Hey, Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the NYS&W Railway Facebook page:

"Since I know many have been asking, we fired up 3618 today for the first time in 5 years, and moved it out of the shop under its own power."
