Anyone have a rough idea as to when the 3634 was originally repainted into yellowjacket?? I have aa softcover book with a picture of it in NYSW paint by 1990.. Was it repainted a few years earlier then that?

Thanks,
SMP

I think 3634 was rushed to paint pretty quick once it was aquired. It was used on all the big-wig trips so thats why it got the special treatment. I think it was mid 1987, but I could be wrong.

Wasn't this numbered 6370 at first?

It was painted in late 1986 around the time the new connector was installed at Sparta Junction.

Sort of off topic, but then again not....

3634 was repainted for the second time in late '06 or early '07 at AMP in Dansville. It was idling away last night at CSX's yard in Rochester, NY awaiting pickup. Oddly, it was sublettered as an "SD45-2" under the numbers on the cab. I don't know if this signifies an upgrade or a painting mistake....

I believe the DASH 2 signifies that the electronics package has been upgraded to -2 specifications.

She looks good!!!! The SD45 is a classy looking loco - Im glad to see the Q rebuilding theirs instead of scrapping them

I wonder if they will try to pick up any more from the MRL (some of the ones they had before they sold them to the MRL!) or CN and give up on the Cartier Alcos???

Would love to see more REAL '45's (20cylinder, 3600HP) running around here!

I wanna run a '45 sooner or later!!! :-) - at least the NJT GP40's sort of look like '45's like GP45's!!! Thats probably as close as Ill get!!! oh well

Yes, the NJT GP40PH-2's, in my opinion look a lot like miniture SD45's since they have that extended flared radiator!

At first i didn't think it was painted, just power washed. But the second pic definitely shows the painting. The #'s are just like the last few painted units. They dont match the original font nysw used. Even the # boards are new. I wonder why 3618 wasn't painted when it was up there.

The first picture shows quite a bit of rust streaking already. Hope the paint job holds up awhile. A couple of clean yellowjackets pulling a long freight is a great sight to behold....

its definitely been repainted or atleast touched up. like i said the #'s and NYSW herald are different from the last time. Also look at the bottom near the walkway, the gold/blk slants are gone in favor for the reflective orange tape.

Here's the info on the F45's and SD45's and their original numbering. Hope this helps.

Have newer pics of the 3634 under a seperate topic i posted re: a quick trip to Binghamton NY 1/20 - 1/21/2007
