I am getting a brass C430 ready for paint. I am modeling her as she was prior to pilot baricade striping and after the rear facing horn back by the radiators was removed. But with all 3 trumpets of the front horn(above the engineer's front window)facing forward, was there still a rear facing horn someplace else? Possible right behind the cab above the fireman's rear window? I have one pic that looks like I can see the edge of a trumpet bell(yellow)against the black background. But its a 3/4 view looking slightly upwards. I need a good view of the that side during that time frame showing horn and number of trumpets, if there is one facing rearward. Thanks Mike

The stripes were put on the pilot long before the rear horn was removed.
The pilot stripes appeared as early as 1985, (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... ?id=982197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but the horn was there until at least late March 1993 (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1198665" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but gone by April 9, 1993. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... ?id=210366" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The date on the 1985 photo is wrong. The scheme 3000 is wearing there was painted by Rome Locomotive in 1988.
Stripes were added on the pilot at that time by RLW painter Larry Snow.

I have a pic at home, at work now, that shows 3000 without the pilot stripes and no rear horn, just the 3 chime above the engineer's window(that must suck noise wise)
