How serious is the push for restoration of passenger service on the NYSW - see the website at nyswpassengerrail.blogspot.com. Is there legitimate momentum or is this just a small group making noise over something that isn't going to happen?

I recently bought Edward Kaminski's book on Maywood NJ (pub. 2010) which makes it sound like the deal was imminent, and this was the first I'd ever heard of it. But obviously nothing has happened in the 4-5 intervening years. Are people still talking about trying this?

This was a pipe dream of Assemblyman Pascrell, Mayor of the City of Paterson, and a few other cronies which was discussed in this column a few years ago and died a quiet death 6 months later. It was supposed to go from Paterson to Hackensack so that hospital workers had a way to get to their jobs at Hackensack Hospital. The politicos failed to realize that people already had a very capable
NJ Transit taking them to their jobs.

There was also talk at one time of restoring service from Sparta area to Hoboken with a transfer from NYSW to NJT in Hawthorne and on
to Hoboken via Transit. That idea was killed by the NIMBYS in Sussex County, plus Transit never had the funding to follow thru on this idea, so it sits on the pipe dream shelf, much like the Lackawanna Cut Off!
