Didn't NS claim to start a "power matching" program where the lashups would have units with matching characteristics like Axles, HP, Mfg... Cos here on waterleverl ex-NYC in South Bend, I usually see something like 9-40BW/SD40-2/GP15-1... defintely not matched.

Question - wouldn't matching up units (at least DC power) by horsepower-per-axle be more critical that matching up by model?

Both an SD40-2 and a GP38, by way of example, check in at 500 hp per axle. Would this result in a similar ability to absorb amps at slow speed in critical situations?

some time ago in the memo system, the company stated that every effort would be made to have matched power on the trains. it lasted about 2 weeks. typical ns nonsense

this was certainly the case this morning in Hagerstown, MD. A train came into town from the north with 4 7100 series GP-60's. Consist was 5 or 6 autoracks followed by a large number of US Express TOFC
