Can anybody comment on why NS does not mix Southern hoppers in with the rest of the NS (NS,N&W,&CR) fleet?
Is it beause most are repainted, scrapped, sold, or is a size (capacity) issue?
The reason I ask is that when I see NS coal trains in my travels, I never see any Southern hoppers (either in Southern paint
or NS cars sublettered SOU) mixed in the consists. I have seen Southern hoppers at times but they are few and far in between.
