Very cool video of the bridge crossing. Thanks for sharing.

About how far in distance did the train travel into Kittery Maine? I thought the track only went as far as one yard right on the other side of the bridge but I see some street crossings in the video.

It went as far as the crossing at Pine Street where there is a small siding where it left the flat car. The flat car remained there and was still there this afternoon. The engine crossed back over the bridge shortly after. It worked Tyco and Sea-3 either yesterday or maybe today and returned to Rockingham this evening and was sat on the branch line when I passed a few hours ago.

Thanks!

Here are some pictures I took of the bridge crossing a couple of days ago:

Yup! The flat is not on the siding any more so the Navy switcher must have picked it up and brought it into the Navy yard. Would have liked to have seen that!

Yes there certainly is! I wonder if they have any rail movements within the base when they are not moving loads to and from the base and across the bridge.

I seem to recall that the plan is to move 16 cars per day, five days a week.
I do not know if the cars will originate at Portland or be dropped at
Rockingham Jct. by an eastbound through job.

I worked at "the yard" for a summer in the 80's as an intern. Back then the new fuel was delivered by rail in special end-load box cars and stored in a special fenced and guarded rail yard away from the drydocks. The fuel was moved right down "Main Street" still in the box cars to the drydock for insertion into the sub. The move was quite a spectacle as it required a full Marine security escort marching on each side of the train. The railroad tracks extend to both sides of each drydock and share a rail with the overhead cranes.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

On a separate note it looks like the old station at Rockingham is being turned into a bicycle store. There is a sign up and they are working on the building.
