...Hess said such an agency could help push desired upgrades to passenger train service on the Waterbury branch line of the Metro-North Railroad. It might also further his desire to create an “inland port” on the former Uniroyal site.

Hess envisions a rail-to-truck terminal where goods can pass through customs, pass between trucks and trains, connecting the hub to New York City, New England and Canada.

”I would say these are the two best regional projects in the entire state of Connecticut if we are looking at improving the economy,” Hess said.
