Just to ask, I feel like I've missed something-- is this ED8 an ED-Ayer turn? Is this essentially the train formerly known as ED-495? I watch the railroad from afar, and anything that uses non-NS power is of interest to me. I appreciate any responses, as well as you guys posting this stuff.

Here's ED8-27 charging through Gardner with its Fitchburgs and Ayers after setting out the P&Ws on main 2 west of the yard. Shortly after ED8's departure, the P&W switcher rolled up main 2 with ED8 set-out to the crossover to tie onto about 13 loaded racks to head home to Worcester. There's a lot of steel in NS gons/bulkhead flats being interchanged at Gardner these day which I've heard goes to the Gateway Terminal at Belle Dock, New Haven.

What trains are EDAY / AYED? Are these the same as ED-8 and ED-9? If so, does that mean that only EDPO / POED will operate between E Deerfield and Ayer?

During my 0325-0515/08-19-2019 trip, there was nothing heard to, from, or about ED-9, POED, or EDPO, but somebody probably had been WB cuz Gardner yard looked MT except for rack loads on 1 and the Lead and an MT centerbeam on the Extension. The 345s were dark, so 1 and 2 were clear west of 346.
