The Haverstraw supersiding is now in service...I spent a few hours trackside at the Stony Point Battlefield Park last Sunday...The park straddles the River Sub Main....On that day, MOW had removed CP35 from service...tearing out the switches and removed the old signals and signal shanty and realigned the tracks...The supersiding was put in service within a day or two after that.
The North end of the supersiding is known as CP-38....CP-36 is the new interlocking installed just to the North of the old CP35 to replace CP-35...and the South end of the supersiding is located at CP-33 in Haverstraw....Tracks are numbered 1 and 2 between CP33 and CP38.....Track 1 being the track closest to the river.....Trains can cross over at all three CP locations.

Steve F45 wrote:how far from cp26 does the new super siding start? For some reason I thought the super siding started as far south as 22.
The next siding is CP33, which is the super siding. It used to go to CP35, but now 35 was taken out, They put in crossovers at CP36 and the siding ends at CP38.

I happened to be working for a short time near the river line yesterday and one of the trains that went by had csx #8009 leading. It was looking like it had a fresh paint job. It was nice to a standard cab leader for a change. :-)

What is the alignment between CP33 and the new CP38? As I recall, the "main" track was the one on the river side as you are heading north at CP33, but the main was on the land side north of the old CP35.

I was pretty much unaware that the "super siding" had been completed until I heard a train at CP38 today and made the assumption that CP38 was the new CP35. Crossovers at CP36 are universal, right?

I passed by the river line the other day and saw a train of autorack cars go by that was led by two road engines that were looking rather rough around the edges. The second trailing unit was looking a bit rusty. Both units could use a new paint job. :-)
