DSA (Foxboro Terminal) is the lilkely culprit. They have several large contracts and recently were getting upwards of 275 cars/month. Almost all boxes. Unfortunately it appears Tighe Mansfield has been quiet, although Advanced Warehouse has been a steady boxcar customer. There is no boxcar left traffic east of Cotley Jct. Last to use boxcars was Burke Distributing in Randolph, however DSA won the Coors contract so they transload and truck to Randolph. Sad to see the last customer on the Randolph IT gone.

B735 is still Mon and Wed overnight to the Freezer and return to Wapole.

Probably a year ago. They rehabbed their double track siding as well as the switch and then nothing. Thought it might have been the rickety bridge over the Cochato River, however B729 has been storing gons (sometimes 15-20) down the IT over the bridge on and off ever since, so I have to assume the bridge is not the issue. Sometimes B729 doesn't even come up past Champion City as they can manage the FVRT interchange twice a week and only occasionally do they drop a car for McConnell. Thought the new 84 Lumber in Holbrook would give rail a try, however nothing yet and that appears to be quite alright with CSX.

Any idea when you can confirm the last time this move was made? I just have conflicting reports if it still happens or not.

Also, if that is the case, they won't be able to make any runs this week. Dorchester Branch is out of service between Morton Street and Fairmount from 10pm and 4am every night. If they are still serving Americold, then perhaps there'll be a daytime move!

Americold on Widett Circle.

Burke probably still wants rail service however the transportation is usually controlled by supplier (Coors) who gets better rates with CSX going through DSA warehouse.

B735 made their trek to the Freezer and back last night. They were let into the OOS by the Foreman heading east around 2am.

There's anger (well, one person anyhow) in Foxboro over CSX freight yarding moves that apparently occur in the night and early morning

https://patch.com/massachusetts/foxboro ... re-routine

Read the letter which is little nonsensical and then watch the video - the person taking the video is yelling at the crew and other RR personnel (and there is brief calm encounter with a local cop). "What the hell are you doing!?! What is going on here!?! You've got to be kidding me!" and locomotives are operating at "jet engine" decibel levels.

The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... Jo7Wti9FtQ

Has CSX changed its operating procedures on this line? Has Mr DiMauro have any reasonable basis for his complaints? Obviously trains have been operating here for 150+ years.

I applaud the crews involved and the Mansfield police officer for handling the situation in a professional manner.

Why do CSX loco's carry a lenght of chain hanging from the catwalk above the wheels?
 #1470908  by Backshophoss

That chain is part of the Hand brake system when parking the loco at the end of the shift,it connects the brake rigging on the truck to a hand crank
lever or Brake wheel on the catwalk.
works like that E-brake pedal in a car does to apply 1 set of brakes.
