The SD45 was probably not returned to service.

Its unlikely either unit was returned to service..
GP35 2300 was originally PRR 2300,
she isnt listed as a known survivor:

It would not surprise me if CR 2300 was scrapped eventually, but the top photograph says it was returned to service and there is a 1985 photograph as well. The Geep seems to have mostly cosmetic damage while the SD45 appear to have been fully involved.

Yep, all you have to do is click on the second link to see the 2300 was pretty obviously repaired and put back into service.
