Does anyone know anything about GP9's that were rebuilt at Altoona around 1977?
Not the GP8/GP10 rebuilds that were done at Paducah and other places.
every once in awhile I scan the internet looking for any trace of LV GP9 #301.
I know there is about a 99% chance the unit is scrapped, but that has never been confirmed.
The info I have for her states:
301 (CR7477) Rebuilt 8/77 Altoona..assigned to Avon (Indianapolis) IN - final dispo unknown.
rebuilt at Altoona in 1977??
I know the unit was definately not part of the GP8/GP10 program.
and if the unit was in fact "rebuilt" that somewhat increases her odds of survival...
I just found a photo of her from 1980, the latest I have seen:

anyone know anything about these early rebuilds?
what was done?
thanks,
Scot
