In this image there is a mars light on top at 45-degree angle (the silver fitting behind the first fan and in line above the front porthole). What on earth is it shining at? It neither illuminates track ahead or grade crossings, so is it airplane collision avoidance? (joking here). I would love to hear the experts on this. thanks!

Hi
I believe they were called avalanche lights on CP, hence the angle.
Cheers
